Privacy Policy

Heartworks Pty Ltd publishes HRV+. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app reads, where it does its work, and the one place anything leaves your iPhone.

Privacy at a glance

No account There is no sign-up, no login and no user profile. We never ask for your name, your age or your sex.
No server HRV+ has no backend of ours. We operate no database that holds anything about you, so there is nothing for us to store, lose or be asked to hand over.
No tracking No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, no third-party SDK watching what you do in the app.
Read-only HRV+ asks Apple Health for read access and nothing else. It cannot add to or alter your Health data.
One exception The Column, an optional AI commentary, is the only feature that sends anything off your iPhone. Section 5 says exactly what it sends.

01What HRV+ reads

With your permission, HRV+ reads eight kinds of data from Apple Health. This is the complete list. Everything the paper prints is worked out on your iPhone from these.

SignalRead for
Heart rate variability (SDNN)Recovery, Stress
Resting heart rateRecovery
Sleep analysisRecovery
Respiratory rateRecovery
VO₂maxFitness
WorkoutsTraining load
Active energyTraining load
ECG recordingsRhythm

HRV+ requests these for reading only. It asks Apple Health for an empty set of write permissions, so it cannot save anything into your Health data or change what is already there.

We do not ask for or read your name, date of birth, sex, location, contacts, photos or any category of Health data outside the list above.

02Where the analysis happens

On your iPhone. Every baseline, comparison, verdict, receipt and weekly review in HRV+ is computed on the device from data already in your Apple Health store.

Your baselines are medians of your own history rather than population norms, which means the app has no reason to know anything about anyone else, and no reason to send your readings anywhere to be scored.

Nothing about the core analysis requires a network connection. Put the phone in airplane mode and the paper still prints.

03What HRV+ stores, and where

On your iPhone only:

  • A small number of preferences, such as whether you have connected Apple Health, how many editions you have read, and whether you have dismissed the editor's note.
  • Analysis of your ECG recordings, held locally so the Rhythm section does not have to recompute it each time.
  • If you use The Column, the text of the current day's column, cached so that reopening the app does not request it again.

HRV+ keeps no copy of your Apple Health database. It reads what it needs when it composes an edition. Deleting the app removes everything it has stored.

04Settings synced through your iCloud

Preferences and purchase status are mirrored through Apple's iCloud key-value store, so a new iPhone picks up the settings and the subscription you already have. This uses your iCloud account and Apple's infrastructure; we have no access to it.

No health measurement is included in that sync.

05The Column, and exactly what it sends

The Column is an optional daily commentary written by an AI on the edition you can already see. It is the only feature in HRV+ that sends anything off your device.

When it runs, it sends the finished ledger, in the same form the app prints it:

  • which edition it is (morning, midday or evening)
  • the day's verdict sentence
  • for each section, the section name, its verdict word, and each row as a metric name, today's value, your baseline and the change

That is the whole payload. It carries no name, no email, no account, no device identifier and no raw Apple Health records. The request is relayed through a Cloudflare Worker we operate, which exists solely to hold the API key so it is not shipped inside the app. The Worker keeps no log of the content and stores nothing.

The commentary is generated by a third-party AI provider under its own terms, which we do not control. If you would rather nothing left the device at all, turn the AI features off in Settings: the app then composes every other part of the paper exactly as before, and The Column is simply absent.

06Purchases

HRV+ offers a paid upgrade and subscriptions. These are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your card details, billing address or Apple Account credentials. Apple tells the app only whether an entitlement is active.

07What we never do

  • We do not sell your health information, or any other information about you.
  • We do not use Apple Health data, or anything derived from it, for advertising, marketing or profiling.
  • We do not share your data with data brokers.
  • We do not claim ownership of your Apple Health data. It is yours.
  • We do not provide diagnosis, treatment or emergency monitoring. HRV+ is a general wellness app.

08Your controls

  • Health access. Grant or revoke any of the eight permissions at any time in the Health app, under Sharing. HRV+ reports honestly on whatever it is left with, and says plainly when a section can no longer be printed.
  • The Column. Turn AI features off in Settings and nothing leaves the device.
  • Everything else. Delete the app. Because there is no account and no server, there is nothing left behind to request, export or erase.

09Security

Health data handled by HRV+ is protected by iOS itself: Apple Health is encrypted on the device and gated behind your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID. The one outbound request described in section 5 is sent over HTTPS.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10Children

HRV+ is not directed to children under the age at which processing personal data requires parental authorisation under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will review it.

11Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date above, and where the change is significant we will say so in the app or on this site. Because the app holds no account, we have no way to email you about it.
